not much else going for her

Post  Radmin on Tue Jul 20, 2010 5:12 pm

Hi guys, I found myself in doubt with this sentence.

This is the context: She was thinking about how she never wanted to be fat, not with not much else going for her, when she saw the bloke staring at her.

I would translate it this way: Stava pensando a quanto non avesse mai voluto essere grassa, senza nient'altro che provarci, quando vide il tipo che la fissava.

I'm not sure about that not much else going for her. I know go for could mean to choose, to try, to like...

Which would be the correct meaning? Thanks everyone.
